Mosquito sample tests positive for West Nile
The Southern Seven Health Department reports that on Sept. 10, a mosquito sample from Union County returned positive for the West Nile virus.
Southern Seven environmental health director Brad Rendleman reported in a news release that the positive results "means that one of the mosquitoes tested was carrying West Nile virus."
"However, a mosquito may fly up to 15 miles in search of a blood meal and the exact area where the mosquito contracted the virus cannot be determined," Rendleman said.
