Eddie Cottone, 87, of Anna, died at 12:32PM Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at Carbondale Memorial Hospital.
Eddie was born March 30, 1927 the son of Anthony “Tony” and Margaret Gaddis Cottone. He married Stella Foster on Oct. 10, 1948. They enjoyed almost 66 yrs of marriage.

J.D. Lewis, 68, of Tamms, died Sunday, April 13, 2014 in an automobile accident near Ullin.
He was born August 13, 1945 in Taylorville, Il. to Herbert Paul and
Viola V. Fraley Lewis.
J.D. retired in 1994 after 30 years with Caterpillar in Decatur. He then
moved to his farm in Alexander County at which time he became a truck
driver. J.D. was very proud of this profession, he had taken all of his
grandchildren with him to learn respect for all truck drivers. He had

Mr. Carrol Grammer, age 88 of Makanda, died at 6:05 a.m. Thursday, April 17, 2014 in the Memorial Hospital in Carbondale. He was born March 28, 1926 in Wolf Lake, the son of James Andrew and Elsie Lily Hood Grammer. He married Julia Lawrence on September 17, 1950 in El Monte, California.
Aileen C. Dillow, 93, passed away April 13, 2014, at her home in Apple Valley, CA. Born July 7, 1920, in Cobden, Ill., Aileen was a 35-year resident of Apple Valley and a 71-year resident of California.
Aileen was active in the Apple Valley Senior Citizens Club, Victorville Senior Citizens Club and the Apple Valley Grange.
Eight officials from various national and state agencies spent Tuesday, April 8, visiting various Trail of Tears sites in Pope, Johnson and Union counties.
The officials visited locations that have been certified as sites visited or trail segments that were part of the 1838-1839 Cherokee Trail of Tears when the Cherokee Nation was removed from North Carolina to Oklahoma.
