<strong>Quilt, table show</strong>
<strong>The PAST organization of Union County hosted its 12th annual quilts and tables show Saturday, April 12. The Pieces of the PAST event was held in the family life center at Anna Heights Baptist Church in Anna.</strong>
Underage drinking and the impact of drugs on the community highlighted discussion at a community event which was held Thursday evening, March 27, in Union County.
The program took place in the cafeteria at Anna-Jonesboro Community High School. Nearly 40 people of all ages attended the presentation.
Last week's event was presented by the Rising Up for a Change Coalition of Union County.
A full house was on hand for a Culture Night event which was hosted by Cobden Elementary School last Friday evening. The program showcased the cultures of nine different countries which students in pre-kindergarten through 5th grade had been studying. The evening included displays about each of the countries, along with vocal music and a dance, which is featured in the accompanying picture.
Mr. Carroll G. Belcher, age 87 of Anna, died at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, April 5, 2014 at his home. He was born June 3, 1926 in Wolf Lake, the son of Roy and Dora Boyce Belcher. He married Dorothy Lee Conant on February 2, 1947 in Anna. She preceded him in death on April 11, 1991. He later married Vera Hale King on May 24, 1992 in Buncombe
Funeral services are planned Thursday, today, for an Anna man whose death has led to murder charges being filed against two Union County men.
Services for James H. "Jimmy" Morrison, 46, of Anna, are planned at 11 a.m. today at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna. Burial will be in the Busby Cemetery in Goreville.
Mr. Morrison died at 4 a.m. Saturday, April 12, at Union County Hospital in Anna.

Paul Beatty, age 62 of Thebes, died Sunday, March 30, 2014 at his home
He was born on September 10, 1951 in Kalamazoo, MI to Floyd and Virginia Boyet Beatty. He married Ramonia Eve Johnston on February 14, 1995.
He is survived by his wife Eve of Thebes, 2 daughters; Cherie’ Wren (Charley) of Scott City and April Bryant of Jackson, 6 grandsons; Garrett Stevens (Jamie) of Advance, Cameron Stevens of Scott City and Austin, Dakota, Joshua and Lancelot Bryant all of Jackson, 1 sister, Pat Beel (Jim) of Leopold, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
