William Ernest Moore
William Ernest Moore, 93, of Anna, died Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2010 at 1:15 a.m. at the Veterans Administration Medical Center Nursing Facility in Marion.
He was born on March 1, 1916, in Tunnel Hill, the son of Isaac Levi Moore and Pearl Ann Faulkner Moore.
He married Elizabeth C. Ciuffini in 1968 at the historic Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, Iowa. They also solemnized their vows at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Anna.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Moore of Anna; two sons, John and Judy Moore of Williams, Ariz., and Donald and Janice Moore of Columbia, Mo.; four grandsons, John William Moore Jr., Jason and Stephanie Moore, Donald Wayne Moore and Billy Lyle Moore; one great-granddaughter, Savannah Paige Moore; two sisters, Kathlene Louise Henry of Anna and Betty Jane Jolgren of Bourbonnais; a brother, Herbert Leon Moore of Anna; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Frela Lloyd Moore and Clyde “Junior” Moore and a sister, Lela Mae Hurley Goddard.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II. He was a former member of the Beggs-Gurley VFW Post and the Harry Sullins American Legion Post.
He was employed as a manager and clerk for approximately 40 years by R.G. Lydy Parking Company in the loop area of Chicago.
He was a former member of the Anna Moose Lodge.
He was of the Presbyterian faith.
He enjoyed fishing, trapping and had a wonderful sense of humor.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 18, at noon at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Father Federico Higuera will officiate. A eulogy will be delivered by the Rev. David Faulkner.
Burial will be in the Robinson-Wise Cemetery near Ozark. Military graveside rites will be accorded by Beggs-Gurley VFW Post and the Illinois Burial Honors Detail.
Friends can call from 11 a.m. to noon Thursday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
Memorials can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
