William "Bill" Baggett

<p class="p1">William "Bill" Baggett, 85, of Makanda, died Thursday, Oct. 22, 2015, at home.</p><p class="p1">He was born on Feb. 9, 1930, the son of Loyd and Delilah Sheppard Baggett, in Makanda.</p><p class="p1">He married Jenny Lee Deming on Aug 4, 1950. She preceded him on Dec. 22, 2014.</p><p class="p1">He served in the U.S. Air Force.</p><p class="p1">He had worked at Hill & Hearn Gas Station in Carbondale for many years. He retired from the Illinois Central Railroad in 1990 after 30-plus years of faithful service. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose in Anna for over 45 years. He liked to hunt and fish and enjoyed watching old western movies.</p><p class="p1">He is survived by his children, Barry (James) Rowan of Dongola, Donna (Carl) Reed of Salem, and William F. Baggett and Robert Baggett, both of Makanda; 13 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.</p><p class="p1">He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jenny; two brothers, Loyd Baggett Jr. and Clarence Baggett; a sister, Ella Peterman; and a great-great-grandson, Robert James Stroehlein.</p><p class="p1">Graveside services for William "Bill" Baggett were Monday, Oct. 26, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dennis Nance officiating in Pleasant Grove Memorial Park.
