Wildcats soccer team improves to 12-5-1 with two recent wins

<p class="p1">The Wildcats boys’ soccer team continued regular season play last week with three games.  </p><p class="p1">On Monday, Sept. 28, the Cats hosted the Herrin Tigers and came away with a 4-0 victory.  </p><p class="p1">In the game, the Cats’ Zach Parr had two goals with one assist and Ryan Stark had one goal and one assist.  Jaryt Tripp completed the scoring with one goal.  </p><p class="p1">Jake Parr played 80 minutes in goal and had six saves in the shutout.</p><p class="p1">The Wildcats hosted the Bulldogs of Harrisburg on Thursday, Oct. 1, and came away with a lopsided 9-1 victory.  </p><p class="p1">Alejandro Peneda led the Wildcats with three goals followed by Zach Parr with two.  </p><p class="p1">Dakota Earnhart, Ruben Lopez and Jaryt Tripp added one goal each.  The Wildcats completed the scoring when James Sullivan converted a penalty in the second half for his first varsity score.</p><p class="p1">On Monday, Oct. 5, the Wildcats traveled to Mount Vernon and came home with a 6-0 win.  </p><p class="p1">In the game, Zach Parr had four goals, while Jared Collier and Garrett Nimmo each added one. Stark, Collier and Tripp each had an assist.</p><p class="p1">On the season the Wildcats stood at 12-5-1, with two regular season games remaining.  </p><p class="p1">On Tuesday, Oct, 6, the Wildcats were scheduled to host Massac County.</p><p class="p1">The Wildcats were scheduled to travel to Carbondale on Wednesday to complete their regular season.</p><p class="p1">The Wildcats are scheduled to host an IHSA regional playoff round next week.  </p><p class="p1">The Anna-Jonesboro regional begins Tuesday, Oct. 13, when the Wildcats will play Harrisburg at 4:30 p.m.  </p><p class="p1">On Wednesday, Breese Central will play Mount Carmel at 4:30 p.m. </p><p class="p1">The winners of each first-round game are set to play Saturday, Oct. 17, at 11 a.m.  </p>
