Webb, Goins pace A-J cross country efforts

Jesse Webb finished in 19:43 to lead Anna-Jonesboro’s efforts in the Southern Illinois River-to-River Conference Mississippi Division high school cross country meet at Herrin Thursday, Oct. 15.

Chance Bartolomucci was next for A-J in 21:30, followed by Ryan Pulver 21:31; Dylan Tucker 22:25; Andrew Adams 22:34; Matt Meller 23:05; and Bart Vancil 29:03.

Lauren Goins finished in 23:11 to lead the A-J girls. Trish Anglin was next in 30:08.

Sparta won the Mississippi Division Conference race. Benton’s Dylan Hartley won individual honors with a 16:20 finish.

Forrest Palis finished in 19:32 to lead A-J in the Benton Invitational Monday, Oct. 19.

Pulver was next in 21:07, followed by Tucker 21:24; Meller 21:37; and Vancil 26:29.

Goins was the lone runner for the Lady Wildcats and finished in 22:12.

Chester won the Class A division in the race with a score of 177. The individual winner was Fairfield’s Bryant Simpson in 15:38.

A-J competes in the Class A regional cross country meet at Harrisburg Saturday, Oct. 24. The girls’ race is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. and the boys start at 11 a.m.
