Virginia L. Brayfield

Virginia L. Brayfield, 87, of Jonesboro, died at 2:07 p.m. on June 8, 2009, at the Union County Nursing Home in Anna.

She was born on Dec. 15, 1921, in Oklahoma City, Okla., the daughter of John and Kathleen Treffts Chasteen.

She married William Dean Brayfield on May 17, 1940, in St. Louis.

She was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include a niece, Patsy Colson and husband Steve, whom she also lived with for some time; her friend Brooke; nieces, Karen and Sharon of Peoria, Ariz.; great-nieces Carla Burnett, Stacy Kelley Scherer, Zella Kuhnert, Sandy Swalls, Vickie McBride and Virginia Herron; two great-nephews, Tracy Thompson and Tommy Joe Smith; other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great- nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews; other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, William.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, June 10, at 11 a.m. at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro with the Rev. Jim Stamp officiating.

Interment was in the Coulterville City Cemetery.

Memorials can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro was in charge of arrangements.
