Velma Rinehart

Velma M. Rinehart, age 94 of Jonesboro, died Monday, June 22, 2009 at 9:30 p.m. at her home.  She was born November 21, 1914, in Anna, the daughter of Charles and Lela (Rich) Hock.  Velma married Lester “Ted” Rinehart on October 8, 1934, in Jonesboro and he preceded her in death.  She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church.

    Survivors include a daughter, Joyce Rinehart of Knightdale, North Carolina; two grandchildren, Brent Cates of Fayetteville, North Carolina and Melanie and husband Michael Cavanagh of Arden, North Carolina; three great-grandchildren, Gerran Cavanagh, Megan Cavanagh and Alex Cavanagh; one great-great-grandchild, Adam Cavanagh; other relatives and many friends.  Velma was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

    Funeral services for Velma will be conducted Saturday, June 27, 2009 at 10:30 AM at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro with the Rev.  Dr. Rick Hertenstein officiating.  Family and friends may call at the funeral home Friday, June 26, 2009 from 5 until 7 p.m..  Interment will be in the Jonesboro Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or Salem Lutheran Church and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
