Union County Farm Bureau offers essay, photo contests

The Union County Farm Bureau is sponsoring two contests which are open to young people in the area.

The contests are being held in conjunction with the March observance of Illinois Agriculture Month.

An essay contest and a photo contest are underway.

Essay Contest

The topic for the essay contest is "Agriculture: A World of Opportunity."

The contest has three age groups: 9 to 11, 12 to 14 and 15 to 17.

Entries are to be no longer than one page, typed or hand-written, and can be any interpretation of the topic.

The deadline to enter the contest is April 8.

The winner in each age group will receive $20. Winning entries will be featured in the May edition of the Farm Bureau News.

Photo Contest

The topic for the photo contest is "Agriculture in Union County."

The contest also has three age groups: 9 to 11, 12 to 14 and 15 to 17.

Photographs can be mailed to the Farm Bureau office or emailed at unionmgr@frontier.com. Images are to include a description of the picture (when and where it was taken). Pictures are to be entered without frames.

The deadline to enter the contest is April 8.

The winner in each age group will receive $20. Winning entries will be featured in the May edition of the Farm Bureau News.
