A time for prayer

<p class="p1">Hundreds of people turned out last Saturday in Cobden in a show of support for local cancer patient Andria Chapman. Organizers coordinated baseball and softball tournaments, a home run derby, a bake sale, raffles and a silent auction. Food also was served. Four softball teams and three baseball teams participated in the tournaments. </p><p class="p2">Event organizer Melissa Britt was grateful for the strong support which was shown for the event. "It's turned out wonderful," she said. Andria Chapman, who was diagnosed in July with cancer, said she appreciated the outpouring of support in her battle against the disease. Proceeds generated by Saturday's activities will help Andria and her family in her battle against cancer.</p><p class="p2">During a midday tribute to honor Andria – and the many people who helped with the event – tournament players, volunteers and others gathered in a circle with her family to pray for strength and healing.</p>
