Shawnee girls finish regular season play as conference co-champions

The Shawnee High School girls’ basketball team closed out regular season by posting four wins in six games.

Shawnee 43, Elverado 41: Autumn McMahan led the way for the host Lady Reds with 18 points, including five 3-pointers in the win Saturday, Feb. 2.

Laycee Presutti had 13 points, Katie Charles  6  and Mariah Faire and Kirsten Pitts 3 apiece.

Shawnee 45, Century 37: Pitts scored 12 points to lead the host Lady Reds to the win Friday, Feb. 1.

Charles added 10 points, followed by Faire 9 and McMahan and Presutti with 7 apiece.

Shawnee 55, Joppa 32: The visiting Lady Reds pulled ahead early in the win Thursday, Jan. 31.

Presutti led the way with 18 points. Charles added 15 points, McMahan 13, Faire 4, Gabby Smith and Kirsten Pitts 2 apiece and Autumn Derossett 1.

East Prairie, Mo., 44, Shawnee 39: The host Lady Reds fell behind early and couldn’t catch up in the loss Tuesday, Jan. 29.

Presutti had 13 points to lead Shawnee. McMahan and Charles had 10 points apiece, Faire 4 and Derossett 2.

Shawnee 36, Dongola 35: Presutti scored 16 points to lead host Shawnee to the homecoming game win Saturday, Jan. 26.

McMahan added 11 points, Charles 6, Smith 2 and Faire 1.

Egyptian 47, Shawnee 36: The host Lady Reds let an early lead slip away in the loss Wednesday, Jan. 23.

Presutti had 20 points to lead Shawnee. McMahan and Faire had 5 points apiece, Charles 4 and Derossett 2.

Shawnee finished the regular season with a 16-12 overall record and posted a 7-1 mark in the South Egyptian conference to share co-champion honors with Egyptian.

The Lady Reds were to have played Valmeyer earlier this week at the New Athens Class 1A regional.
