A-J girls’ track team gifted with good turnout
The Anna-Jonesboro Community High School girls’ track team has been gifted with a good turnout this season.
“We return everybody from last year,” A-J track coach Michael Eudy said. “We’re fortunate to have the numbers. We’ve got 25 out for track, so we’ve got a lot of depth.”
Seniors are distance runners Maddie Lingle, Kate Holshouser and Clair Boget and discus/shot put thrower Heidi Mitchell.
Juniors expected to contribute are sprinters Jade Marks, Atarah Hart, Julie Ellis and Brayden Fitzgerald and hurdler/jumper/sprinter Carsen Clements.
Two sophomores who competed in indoor meets recently and are expected to help out are pole vaulter Julie Lasley and sprinter/hurdler/high jumper Addison Osman.
Freshmen hopefuls are discus/shot put thrower Anna Hesse, distance runner Julia Hall and sprinter Amiyah Hart.
“Our enrollment is on the small edge of 1A,” Eudy said. “So, we will be competing in 2A for the second season. It’s tough to compete at that level, but I think we’ll have a good season.”
The Lady Wildcats opened their season earlier this week at Massac County and competes Saturday in the Benton Spring Fling.
