Cobden baseball tops Vienna, Elverado
The Cobden High School baseball team posted a 2-1 record in recent action.
Anna-Jonesboro 12, Cobden 2: Dylan Lewey was 2-for-3 with an RBI to lead the host Appleknockers in the loss Thursday, April 19.
Chandler West was 1-for-1. Bayden Ditterline and Noah Franklin were each 1-for-3.
Zane Nance and John Russell pitched in the loss. Nance worked 5 innings and allowed 8 hits to go with no walks and 4 strikeouts. Russell pitched an inning and allowed 2 hits to go with no walks and 4 strikeouts.
Cobden 9, Vienna 6: Brayden Clark was 2-for-2 to lead visiting Cobden in the South Egyptian Conference win Wednesday, April 18.
Ditterline was 2-for-4 with 2 stolen bases and 3 RBIs. West was 2-for-4. Clayton Flamm was 1-for-3. Russell was 1-for-4 with a triple, 2 stolen bases and 3 RBIs. Nance was 1-for-4 with a stolen base. Cody Wieseman was 1-for-4 with an RBI.
Cobden 10, Elverado 0: West tossed a one-hitter to lead host Cobden to the conference win Tuesday, April 17. West allowed a walk and had 11 strikeouts.
West was 2-for-3 with an RBI to lead Cobden. Russell was 2-for-3 with 2 stolen bases. Flamm was 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI. Wieseman was 1-for-2 with a stolen base and an RBI. Alex Remsey was 1-for-3 with a stolen base and 3 RBIs. Clark was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Franklin was 1-for-3.
Cobden, 6-2, is scheduled to play Friday at home against Zeigler-Royalton and Saturday in the Cobden Invitational.
