Shawnee signs three softball players from Union County

The Lady Saints softball team at Shawnee Community College recently signed five new players for the 2014-2015 season.
Three of the players are from Union County.
<strong>Those who signed with Shawnee include</strong>:
Kendall Carter of Anna.
Alyssa Chamness of Dongola.
Whitney Keller of Dongola.
Taylor Howard of Pinckneyville.
Hayley Motsinger of Zeigler.
“These young ladies will be a great asset to our team,” Shawnee softball coach Mike Fitzgerald said.
Kendall Carter is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jamie Carter of Anna.
Kendall is a senior at Anna-Jonesboro Community High School. She is an infielder.
Her school activities and achievements include Local Honor Society, National Honor Society, Beta Club, Spanish Club, student council, Mu Alpha Theta, volleyball team, bowling team, math team, softball team, scholar athlete and homecoming court.
Alyssa Chamness is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Chamness. Alyssa is a senior at Dongola High School. She is a catcher.
Chamness played for Dongola High School all four years and also played summer ball for the Southern Storm.
Whitney Keller is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Barry Keller. Whitney is a senior at Dongola High School. She is a pitcher/shortstop.
Keller has played softball for four years at Dongola High School. She is also active in FFA and the Senior Beta Club and is on the Superintendent’s Honor Roll.
Hayley Motsinger is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James and Devon Motsinger. Motsinger is a senior at Zeigler-Royalton High School. She is a righthanded pitcher.
Hayley played softball for the Down State Rippers before relocating to Australia, where she played for the Queensland state team for two years.
After moving back to the states, Hayley plans to finish playing the rest of the season with the Rippers and then come to Shawnee Community College.
Taylor Howard is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Howard of Pinckneyville.
She is a right-handed pitcher and catcher for the Pinckneyville Panthers.
Taylor pitched for the Pinckneyville Panthers her junior year and had 19 wins to Pinckneyville to a share of the Southern Illinois River-to-River Mississippi Division championship.
Taylor also plays travel softball with the Southern Illinois Lady Bullets as a pitcher, catcher and utility player.
