Shawnee, Dongola fall in SEC tournament play

Shawnee and Dongola lost in the South Egyptian Conference high school girls’ basketball tournament at Egyptian Saturday, Jan. 30.

Following are game summaries:

Egyptian 34, Dongola 30: Haley Fuller scored 14 points to lead the Lady Demons in the loss.

Michaela Penrod added 6 points, Emily Terbrak 5, Becky Holt 3 and Dominique Schauer 2.

Dongola led 7-6 after one quarter and 15-14 at the half. The Lady Pharoahs made a 14-8 run in the third quarter to take a 28-23 lead into the final period.

Goreville 60, Shawnee 37: Kaylee Boston scored 14 points to lead the Lady Reds in the loss.

Taylor Ellis added 10 points, Reagan Brown 5 and Jessie Reynolds and Jonnie Ellet 4 apiece.

Goreville led 8-5 after one quarter and 31-15 at the half. The Lady Blackcats were ahead 46-23 going into the final period.
