Shawnee defeats Cobden

Tyler Glidewell’s sacrifice fly in the 1st inning was the lone run to lift Shawnee to a 1-0 win over visiting Cobden in South Egyptian Conference high school baseball action Monday, April 5.

Glidewell led the hitting attack for the Redskins by going 2-for-2 with an RBI. Ty McMahan was 2-for-3. Tyler Brant was 1-for-2.

Daniel Nance was 1-for-2 to lead the Appleknockers. Josh Aspen was 1-for-3.

Greg Smith was the winning pitcher with a two-hitter to go with a walk and 7 strikeouts.

Steve Draper and Chris Solomon pitched for the Appleknockers, combining to scatter 5 hits.

Draper pitched 5 innings and allowed 5 hits to go with no walks and 6 strikeouts. Solomon pitched an inning and didn’t allow a hit to go with no walks and a strikeout.

Shawnee improved to 5-3 overall and Cobden evened its record at 3-3.
