Shawnee, Cobden win in SEC baseball action

Shawnee and Cobden were first-round winners in South Egyptian Conference high school baseball tournament action at Shawnee College near Ullin Saturday, Oct. 3.

Following are game summaries:

Shawnee 16, Dongola 4: Tyler Glidewell was 3-for-3 with 5 RBIs to power Shawnee to the first-round win.

Tyler Brant was 3-for-3 with 3 RBIs. Adam Pennington was 2-for-2 with an RBI. Dylan Smith was 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs.

Kyle Stevens was 1-for-3 with 2 RBIs. Greg Smith was 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Brant and Ty McMahan pitched in the win.

Brant pitched 3 innings and allowed 3 hits to go with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts.

McMahan pitched 2 innings and didn’t allow a hit to go with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts.

Shawnee is 10-1 overall.

Cobden 11, Century 0: Steve Draper, 5-0, fired a no-hitter to lead the Appleknockers to the win. He had 5 strikeouts and no walks.

Aaron Cerny was 3-for-3 with 3 RBIs to lead Cobden. Draper was  1-for-2 with 2 RBIs. Robbie Lehr was 1-for-2. Blake Wiggs was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Alex Sweitzer was 1-for-3.

Cobden improved 9-2 overall.
