Shawnee, Cobden fall in holiday tournament play
Shawnee and Cobden each had a second loss and were ousted from the double-elimination Sesser-Valier Holiday high school boys’ basketball tournament Tuesday, Dec. 27.
Vienna 54, Shawnee 43: With the game knotted 8-8 after one quarter, the Eagles took over in the second quarter on their way to the win.
Vienna led 24-19 at halftime and 41-29 after three periods.
Andrew Livesay scored 18 points to lead the Redskins. Aiden McMahan added 13 points, Brandon Pind 4, Austin Treece and Gavyn Ellet 3 each and Gage Shelton 2.
Christopher 71, Cobden 54: Tyler Lewey scored 13 points to lead the Appleknockers in the loss.
Zach Moore added 10 points, Parker Flamm and Josh Aspen 7 each, Joseph Eck 6, Garrett Marks 5 and Nathan Sweitzer, Jordan Waldrop and Austin Flamm 2 each.
The Bearcats built a 21-9 first quarter advantage and led 33-20 at halftime. Christopher led 51-39 at the end of three periods.
Shawnee fell to 2-9 overall and Cobden to 2-10.
