<p class="p1">Ruth Eileen Schluter Trampe, died Saturday, Feb. 13, 2016, at 9:15 a.m. at Massac Memorial Hospital in Metropolis.</p><p class="p1">She was born on July 20, 1920, in Dongola, the daughter of Clyde Leland Schluter and Velma Alleyna Johnson Schluter.</p><p class="p1">She married Leonard (Penny) George Trampe, on Jan. 21, 1940.</p><p class="p1">Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, today, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Metropolis, with the Rev. Timothy A. Bean and the Rev. David Deem officiating. Burial will follow in the Metropolis Memorial Gardens.</p><p class="p1">Mrs. Trampe was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, where she was involved in several areas of ministry, including the church council, choir, Altar Guild and Bible study groups, and cooking with the "Ladie Aids," which helped pay for the Sunday School addition of the church. She was involved in WELCA (Women of the LCA) Southern District.</p><p class="p1">She was involved in community activities, including Church Women United, Homemakers, COPE, Good Samaritan Coffee Hour and sing alongs, where she led Bible studies with the residents and took tapes of the church services to the shut-ins.</p><p class="p1">She had many hobbies: her china and oil painting, which she shared with many relatives and friends; cooking, quilting, reading, outdoor recreation and gardening. She painted many china baby shoes for the babies in the congregation. When wondering at her long life after becoming disabled, she  believed she must surely try to be a blessing to others.</p><p class="p1">She is survived by her husband of 76 years, Leonard (Penny) George Trampe and four children, Leonard Clyde and wife Evelyn Trampe of Morrison, Colorado, Sharon Ruth and husband Dan McKavanagh of Metropolis, Kenneth Lee and wife Helen Trampe of Slocomb, Alabama, and Joe and wife Donna Trampe of Paducah; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Clyde Schluter of Anna and Bill Schluter of Dongola; and many nieces and nephews.</p><p class="p1">She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Velma Schluter; sisters, Florence McIntosh, Fern McIntosh Lingle and Gail McIntosh; and sisters-in-law Myrtle, Clyde's wife, and Vida, Bill's wife.</p><p class="p1">Visitation was Thursday, Feb. 18, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church.</p><p class="p1">Memorials can be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Elevator Fund, P.O.
