Ruth Amy Hill

    Ruth Amy Hill, age 99 of Anna, died Thursday, August 6, 2009 at 10:40 a.m. at the City Care Center of Anna.  She was born in Union County on January 10, 1910, the daughter of John and Sally (Dillow) Thomas.  She married John Hill on September 24, 1926 in Union County and he preceded her in death on August 27, 1970.  Ruth worked many years at the International Shoe Factory in Anna before moving with her family to Utah where she then began working in motel management.  After returning to Southern Illinois she managed the Anna Plaza Motel in Anna before retiring.  Ruth was also a member of the Anna Heights Baptist Church.

    Ruth is survived by four daughters, Mary (Dorris) Penrod of Dongola, Pearl Douglas of Wesley Chapel, FL, Francis (Phil) Lewis of Centralia and Joanna (Donald) Lessar of Clinton, Iowa; A half-sister, Stella Baumheuter of Greer, SC; 9 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, many great-great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.

    Funeral services for Ruth will be conducted on Sunday, August 9, 2009 at 3 p.m. at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with Phil Lewis officiating.  Interment will be in the Friendship Cemetery.  Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, August 9, 2009 from 1 p.m. until the hour of the funeral.  Memorial contributions may be made to the City Care Center of Anna and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
