Roots of Rhythm event set at Shawnee

Shawnee Community College is planning to host a free Roots of Rhythm presentation on Feb. 16.
The event is set for 7 p.m. at the college’s main campus near Ullin.
The program explores the music of the African Diaspora: “music that has originated in or is related to Africa.”
Roots of Rhythm is part of the University of Tennesse-Martin percussion group.
The college noted that groups of five or more are encouraged to RSVP by calling 618-634-3260 or emailing president@shawneecc.edu for preferred seating.
