Robert R. Beasley

Robert R. Beasley, 92, of Thebes, died at 4 a.m. Friday, Feb. 26, 2010, at his home.

Mr. Beasley was born on April 9, 1917, in Chestnut Mound, Tenn., the son of Ben and Lillie Mae Autry Beasley.

Mr. Beasley was a member of the First Baptist Church in Thebes. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a retired railroad employee.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and by two sons, Robert and William (Bill) Beasley.

Survivors include his wife, Eunice Moore Beasley of Thebes; a brother, Willis C. Beasley of Sparta; two sisters, Lonie Todd of Sparta and Mary Busicker of Toledo, Ohio; three granddaughters, Rena Lenand, Lisa Muller and Lorna Middleton; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. Beasley were at 11 a.m. Monday, March 1, at Jones Funeral Home in Tamms with the Rev. Tom Bridges officiating.

Interment followed in Rose Hill Cemetery in Thebes with full military honors presented by the Illinois Army National Guard honors detail and local veterans.

Jones Funeral Home in Tamms was in charge of arrangements.
