Rev. Lucien Ray Bozarth

Rev. Lucien Ray Bozarth, 75, of Cape Girardeau, and formerly of Dongola, died at 11:58 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born on Nov. 7, 1936, in Centralia, the son of Lucien E. and Emma Unile Gambill Bozarth.

He was married on July 14, 1957 to Jean, and she preceded him in death Jan. 11, 2005. He then married Alice on Aug. 26, 2006.

He served in the ministry for over 50 years, pastoring Baptist churches in Southern Illinois and Southeast Missouri. Wherever he pastored, Lucien became active in the community. Most recently, he was a member of the First Baptist Church in Jackson, Mo. He and Jean also founded B & B Florist in Mounds.

Survivors include his wife, Alice of Cape Girardeau; one daughter, Teresa (David) Holmes of Tulsa, Okla.; two sons, Douglas (Anne) Bozarth and Timothy (Becky) Bozarth, all of St. Louis; five grandchildren, Amanda, Stephen, Michael, Samantha and Jeremy; one great-grandchild, Alinia; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by Jean and his parents.

Services were at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, at Crain Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau with the Rev. Jim Martin and the Rev. Tommy Weems officiating. Interment was in Dogwood Cemetery in East Prairie, Mo.

Memorials can be made to the First Baptist Church in Jackson, Mo.
