<p class="p1">Rev. Charles H. Mitchell, 85, of Anna, died at 8:10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 4, 2015, at Jonesboro Rehab with his wife by his side.</p><p class="p1">He was born on Aug. 7, 1930, in Louisiana, Missouri, the son of Louis and Eva Traphegan Mitchell.</p><p class="p1">He married Jean Graf in June 1949. She preceded him in death in January 1977. In December 1977, he married Shirley May.</p><p class="p1">He was a graduate of Tulsa Bible College and earned his master's degree from the International Bible Institute. He was a minister of United Pentecostal Churches for 57 years, winning souls for the Lord at churches    in Central City, Cambria, Quincy for 29 years at a church he started, and Landmark Church in Anna for 14 years. His health forced him to retire from full-time ministry in 2001. When he retired from Landmark Church in Anna, the church was debt free.</p><p class="p1">In 2014, Rev. Mitchell was honored by the church he founded, Calvary Tabernacle in Quincy. The congregation raised enough money to build a church in Uganda in Rev. Mitchell's honor.</p><p class="p1">In his younger years he worked at Literal Steel Manufacturing in Quincy and A&P Stores in Terre Haute, Indiana, and Racine, Wisconsin.</p><p class="p1">Survivors are his wife, Shirley of Anna; a daughter, Alice Lang of Columbus, Indiana; a son, Rev. Dan Charles Mitchell (JoAnn) of Columbus, Indiana; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Marcus Mitchell (Cleta) of Columbus, Indiana; a sister-in-law, Gloria Mitchell; nieces, nephews and other relatives.</p><p class="p1">Besides his first wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Ann Mansur, and a brother, Rev. Wayne Mitchell.</p><p class="p1">Visitation for Rev. Charles H. Mitchell will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, today, at the Apostolic Lighthouse Church at 432 S. Front St. in Cobden.</p><p class="p1">Funeral services were Friday, Dec. 11, at 1 p.m. at the First Pentecostal Church at 1311 S. Washington in Du Quoin, with Rev. C. L. McKinnies presiding, assisted by Rev. Dan Mitchell, Rev. Rex Goforth, Rev. Kenneth Pate, Rev. Brent Coltharp, Rev. Noel Loyd and Rev. Bobby Gentry. A visitation on Friday took place one hour prior to the service at the church in Du Quoin.</p><p class="p1">Interment was Saturday, Dec. 12, at 1 p.m. at Greenmount Cemetery in Quincy.</p><p class="p1">Memorials can be made to the Apostolic Lighthouse Church of Cobden or to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.</p><p class="p1">Crain Funeral Home of Anna-Jonesboro is in charge of arrangements.</p>
