Raymond Newell

<p class="p1">Raymond Newell, 79, of Jackson, Missouri, and formerly of Anna, died Monday, Dec. 7, 2015, at Monticello House in Jackson, Missouri.</p><p class="p1">He was born on Aug. 24, 1936, in Elco, the son of Glenn and Mildred Sheffer Newell.</p><p class="p1">He married Joan King on May 25, 1976. She preceded him in death on Feb. 1, 2001.</p><p class="p1">He was the owner and operator of Raymond Newell Trucking Company for nearly 50 years. In his retirement, he was a driver for the Cape Transit Authority and had worked at Wal-Mart in Cape Girardeau.</p><p class="p1">He is survived by his children, Gary Newell of Phoenix, Arizona, and Sharon (Dennis) Abercrombie of Jonesboro; two grandchildren, Joshua (Michelle) Abercrombie and Hope (Jed) Mix; four great-grandchildren, Blake, Paige, Bailey and Clara Mix; brothers James (Carolyn) Newell of Tamms, David (Anna) Newell of Kelso, Missouri, and Michael (Diann) Newell of Cape Girardeau.</p><p class="p1">He was preceded in death by his parents; and by a sister, Dorothy (Melvin) Smith.</p><p class="p1">Funeral services was at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec.10, at Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro, with Pastor Don Estes officiating.
