Raymond J. Baggott
Raymond J. Baggott, 92, of Cobden, died Wednesday, June 24, 2009, near his home on Wing Hill Road outside of Cobden.
He was born on September 1, 1916, in Cobden, IL to Jesse and Juliette (Shadowens) Baggott. He married Etta Nance on April 1, 1939 and they have enjoyed 70 years together.
He was a deacon and 50 year member of the Bethel Baptist Church. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Cobden. He was a farmer.
He is survived by his wife, Etta of Cobden; two sons, Raymond D. Baggott of DuQuoin and Gary L. Baggott of Anna; a daughter, Faye Baggott of Cambria; seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren; a brother, Amos Baggott of Murphysboro; two sisters, Mabel Johnson of Elgin and Callie Webb of Elburn; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Robbie Lane Baggott in infancy, two half brothers, Samson and Clarence Wiley and a half sister Esta Cochran.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 29, 2009, at Crain Funeral Home, Anna-Jonesboro with Rev. Clifton Lingle officiating. Interment will be in Anna Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 29, 2009, at Crain Funeral Home, Anna-Jonesboro.
Memorials may be made to Bethel Church and will be accepted at the funeral home.
