Ray Stevens

Ray Stevens, 82, of Jonesboro, died at 8:59 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, 2015 in the Landmark Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. He was born June 10, 1933 in Anna, the son of Willie and Ora Marie (Pearce) Stevens. He married Beatrice Hileman on May 25, 1991 in Anna.
He is survived by his loving wife, Bea Stevens of Jonesboro; three sisters, Carolyn Murray of Jonesboro, Mildred Smith of Dongola, and Linda Thurston of Pulaski; Godchild, Amy Shott of St. Louis, Missouri; step-daughter, Linda Hoffman of Elkville; granddaughters, Patti Jordan, Jody Casper, and Jennifer Buckingham; many nieces and nephews; cousins; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Gene Bridges, Leon Bridges, and David Harris; sisters, Laura Jean Bridges, Lois Cavaness; and first wife, Marie Buckingham; and step son, Leon Buckingham.
He was a member of the Anna Heights Baptist Church. Ray never had any biological children but helped raise 15-20 kids. He was a hard worker and friend to everyone he knew. He loved his Lord and church family.
Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 23, 2015 in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro with Rev. Darryl Williams officiating. Interment was in the Ebenezer Hall Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Anna Heights Baptist Church. Envelopes will be available in the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
