I keep trying to put my winter coat away for the last time. Just can't seem to get the job finished.

Sunday afternoon, I went on another walkabout adventure. I put on my winter coat, figuring that it would be a bit much for a nice, warm spring afternoon. Nah. A bitter wind was blowing, so I was glad to be wearing the coat. And, no, I did not see any leaping squirrels or cute baby furballs.

Monday morning was a bit nippy, so I put the coat on, again, and trudged off to The Paragraph Factory. At least there wasn't any snow on the ground.

As of early Monday afternoon, when this was being composed, the sun was shining and the temperature, according to my fancy laptop computer, was a balmy 60 degrees.

Last Friday morning, Mother Nature wasn't much help either in my attempt to put away winter apparel for the season.

As I exited a meeting of the Union County Board of Commissioners at the courthouse in Jonesboro, I looked out of one of the windows on the back side of the building. I had to do a double take.

Snow? Yup. Big ol' honkin' snowflakes were falling from the sky. Fortunately, our early spring blizzard didn't amount to much in terms of accumulation.

The way things are going this year, I figure that we'll have to deal with a winter storm warning on Independence Day.

Snow wasn't the only thing that fell from the sky during the past week or so.

Wednesday night, Mother Nature treated us to some hail. We were pretty lucky at home. We just had some pea-sized ice falling from the sky. Folks in some other parts of Union County saw much bigger chunks of ice.

I suppose that snow and hail would reflect something that I saw at last Saturday's Union County Business Expo, which was held at Anna-Jonesboro Community High School.

(By the way: If you've never been to the Business Expo, you've missed a wonderful local event. Make plans to go next time.)

The Council for Responsible Economic Development had a booth at the exhibit. Those who stopped by the booth were asked to share what they "LOVE MOST" about Union County. Visitors were able to jot their answers on a Post-it note and share it.

Some of the items shared on the Post-it notes included:

Scenery. Limitless Potential. Beautiful Hills. The Arts! My House. People. friendly people. Natural Sites. Hills and Horses. Scenery (again). Scenery and Hunting. Rolling Hills & Clean Air. I've lived here 90 yrs. No traffic. Low traffic. State forest. Low Crime. Low Crime! Peaceful. Cache River. Wildlife refuge. Pine Ridge Boy Scout Camp. Know everybody. Everyone knows everybody. Wouldn't live ANY Place Else! Best Place in the World.

And, there were a couple of my favorites, like: Women don't age! Rock n Roll. It's Home!

There also were a couple of comments about the weather, which was not surprising, including:

Temperate weather & friendly folks. Crazy Weather.

I guess Crazy Weather would pretty much sum up what we've been experiencing since about the middle of last November. Give me just a moment here. I'm going to look out the window and see if the weather has changed. . .

Hail fell for a short time on Wednesday night, March 25, at our humble abode.

Snow? Yes, indeededly, doodly, as Ned Flanders might say. Then again, he might not. This fascinating image was captured last Friday morning on the grounds of the Union County Courthouse in Jonesboro.
