Paul David Womick Jr.

<p class="p1">Paul David Womick Jr., 62, of Anna, died Thursday, Aug. 13, 2015, at his home.</p><p class="p1">He was born on April 5, 1953, in Anna, the son of Paul and Mary Verble Womick Sr.</p><p class="p1">He graduated from Anna-Jonesboro Community High School in 1971.</p><p class="p1">On April 10, 1976, he married Darla Haymaker Womick.</p><p class="p1">He was employed at Anna School District No. 37 as the transportation director, chief bus driver and head of maintenance for 32 years. He was in charge of testing the roads for safety for the entire school district's bus system during the winter months.</p><p class="p1">He also really liked driving the bus for JR Centre and working with all the staff there and at the schools.</p><p class="p1">He was a volunteer fire fighter for the Anna Fire Department for 14 years, an EMT and ambulance driver for Multi County Ambulance and a dispatcher for the Anna Police Department.</p><p class="p1">He was always there to help friends and the community with projects. He loved playing Santa Claus for the entire community, family and friends. His generous spirit and strong work ethics helped him develop a highly respected reputation among the community. He took great pride in his work and only retired a few years prior to his passing. </p><p class="p1">He loved to watch movies, fish, listen to country music and collect knives. His favorite movies were "Rambo," "Die Hard" and anything with Clint Eastwood and he would laugh nonstop watching "Open Season" with his granddaughter Mayli.</p><p class="p1">He could not resist eating watermelon any chance he got and he loved making his special pancakes for his girls. He was the happiest he could be when he spent time with his children and granddaughter. For 12 years, he really enjoyed his service with the First Baptist Church and working with the children's bus ministry and the children's church. He drove the church bus for two youth mission trips to St. Petersburg, Florida, and Ocean City, Maryland, doing Vacation Bible School classes. He is a member of Anna First Baptist Church.</p><p class="p1">He is survived by his wife, Darla; two daughters, Brianna Womick and Mary Beth Womick-Knight; granddaughter, Mayli Knight; his sisters, Nadine Adams and Sharon (Adams) Farris; a brother, Dennis Womick; a nephew, Chris Farris; a great-nephew, Bryson Farris; and other family.</p><p class="p1">He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Sr. and Mary Womick.</p><p class="p1">Funeral services were Monday, Aug. 17, at 4 p.m. at Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro with Pastor Les Sinks officiating.
