Partridge helps team win tournament title
Luke Partridge was 9-for-21 at the plate for the Cherokees Baseball East club as the team won the Great Plains Tournament of Champions in Wichita, Kan., Sunday, July 19.
The Cherokees East club, which finished the tournament with a 7-0 mark, is for boys 18 year old and under.
In the championship game, which Cherokee East scored a 4-2 victory over Oklahoma, Partridge scored twice.
Partridge, a former Anna-Jonesboro Community High School baseball player, had a pair of doubles and scored 10 runs.
He was the winning pitcher in an 11-2 win over the Sandlot Mudcats of Tulsa, Okla.
For the season, Partridge had a .369 batting average with 14 RBIs. He led the team with 7 doubles.
On the mound, he had a 2-0 record with 13 strikeouts through 15 innings of work.
The Cherokees baseball team finished the summer season with a 20-7 overall record.
Partridge, a 2009 A-J graduate, will play baseball at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville this fall.
