The Union County Selective Service office has announced that the county draft call for March, 1968, is for 12 Union County men.

Merchants in Anna are offering Leap Year Specials to their customers this Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Members of the A-J Future Farmers of America visited the O.K. Loomis orchard to learn about the pruning of fruit trees.

The highest temperature recorded for the week Feb. 24 to Feb. 28 was on Sunday, Feb. 25, with a high of 45 and the low a chilly 8 on Thursday, Feb. 22. A trace of snow was recorded on Monday, Feb. 26.

Lent, which heralds the beginning of the Easter season, began in many area churches on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 28. Special Lenten services will be held in the churches during the forty days preceding Easter Sunday, April 14.

The first quarterly dinner meeting of this year of the Anna Chamber of Commerce will be held Monday, March 4, at 6:30 p.m. at the Whitehouse Coffee Shop.

The Davie School Music Festival will be held in the Davie School Auditorium on Thursday, March 7, at 7:00 p.m.

The 36th Annual Meeting of Fruit Belt Service Company was held Saturday afternoon in the Vienna High School Gym.

A Sadie Hawkins party will be held at Anna-Jonesboro Teen Town on Saturday, March 2, from 8 to 12. Music will be provided by the Katalytic Reaction.

World War I Auxiliary met Sunday, Feb. 25, at the Legion Hall, with an excellent turnout of members.

The annual American Legion Pancake Day is to be held at the American Legion Community Center on Saturday, March 16. Serving will begin at 7 a.m. and end at 7 p.m.

From the Alto Pass Happenings: The Home Talent Show was well attended at the Community High School Friday evening.

From the Oak Grove Church news: Several from our community were shopping on Feb. 22 (George Washington's Birthday). I have not heard if any one hit the Big Bargains.
