Wilma Nicholson

Wilma Nicholson, 94, of Grand Chain, died Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at Southgate Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Metropolis. 

She was born on Nov. 13, 1928, in East Liverpool, Ohio, the daughter of Albin and Leola Burlingame Dietz. 

She married Robert Nicholson on July 27, 1952. He preceded her in death on April 17, 2007.

Mrs. Nicholson is survived by her children, Suzan Partridge of Grand Chain, Courtney (Marty) Nicholson of Cairo, Tracey Turner of Waldron, Ind., and Douglas (Shelly) Nicholson of Belleville; grandchildren Justin Partridge, Joshua (Becky) Partridge, Sarah (Brent) Manley, Megan (Matt) Turner-Meyer, Ryan (Jessica) Turner; great-grandchildren Millie, Tessa and Jedd Partridge, Bryce and Kyran Partridge, Matti and Ali Hileman, Addalee and Henry Manley, Tyler Jackson and Lillian and Claire Turner; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Nicholson; her parents; and siblings Robert Dietz, Richard Dietz and Anna Hobbs.

She was an involved member of the Lutheran Church. She enjoyed being with, and working in, the greenhouse with her family. She was a member of the Eastern Star and was an avid watcher of “Jeopardy.”

Graveside funeral services were at 11:30 a.m. Monday, May 15, at the Anna City Cemetery, with Pastor Tammy Horn officiating. Interment followed the service.
