Wayne L. Douglas

Wayne L. Douglas, 86, of Anna, died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his family. 

He was born on April 24, 1938, in Karnak, the son of Claud C. and Birdie Bunch Douglas. 

He married D. Darlene Eiselmeirer on May 1, 1960, in Cape Girardeau. They shared over 64 wonderful years together.

He is survived by his wife, Darlene Douglas; daughter Tanya (Ted) Womick; grandsons Tyler (Sara) Hess and Jacob (Allie) Hess; step-grandchildren Jeremiah (Jodi) Womick and Jessie (Herman) Wells; great-grandchildren Liam and Holden Hess; step-great-grandchildren Jack Womick, Sophia and Blake Wells; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Lisa Hess; brothers and sisters-in-law Clyde (Opal) Douglas, Raymond (Doris) Douglas and Clark (Laura) Douglas; and sisters and brother-in-law Lillian Douglas and Delphia (Steve) Hill.

Mr. Douglas was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Anna. He retired from Boilermakers Local 363 in March of 1998 after 30-plus years. He was a lifetime member of Anna-Jonesboro Elks Lodge No. 1641. 

He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He enjoyed turkey hunting and loved music and dancing. If you’ve been to Kiki’s to listen to Steve and Eric, you’ve surely seen Wayne and Darlene dance.

Graveside funeral services for Wayne Douglas were at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3, at the Anna Cemetery, with Pastor Jason Holden officiating. Inurnment followed. 

A celebration of Wayne’s life will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at the Anna-Jonesboro Elks Lodge, 427 E. Jefferson St., Anna. 

Memorials can be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, the Alzheimer’s Association or the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
