Valda Lazelle Snell

Valda Lazelle Snell, 94, of Grand Rivers, Ky., and formerly of Anna, died Sunday, April 30, 2023, at Stone Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Paducah. 

She was born on March 27, 1929, in Dongola, the daughter of Paul Alfred and Bertha Novella Karraker Lingle. 

She is survived by her daughters, Wilda Kay Ray of Evansville, Ind., and Linda Williams of Anna; four grandsons, Shawn (Lisa) Hileman of Grand Rivers, Ky., Kristopher Ray of Chattanooga, Tenn., Marshall (Julia) Ray of Evansville, Ind., and Donnie Hileman of Anna; six great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; infant grandson William Carl Hileman; and sisters Kedron Parr and Maureen Claxton. 

She was a member of Christian Chapel Church of Christ in Dongola for many years. She loved tending to her flowers, quilting and crocheting. Most of all she enjoyed her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 6, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro, with the Rev. La Rue Parr officiating. Interment was in St. John’s Cemetery west of Dongola. Memorials can be made to St. John’s Cemetery.
