Thomas Raymond Campbell
Thomas Raymond Campbell, 85, of Carbondale, passed away on Monday, April 7, 2025 at the Landings in Carbondale.
He was born on Dec. 25, 1939 to John R. and Delphia (Deaton) Campbell in Birdwell, Illinois. He was married to Martha Mofield and she survives.
After attending Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, Tom served in the United States Army Reserves.
Upon returning he went back to work for Anna Ready Mix, Inc., a family-owned business. Tom loved his work and valued his employees. Tom helped to expand Anna Ready Mix by establishing several plants throughout Southern Illinois and Southeast Missouri.
Tom was a member of the Anna City Council in the 1980's, The Illinois Ready Mix Concrete Council, and The First United Methodist Church in Carbondale.
When Tom wasn't working, he enjoyed epic drives, working in his yard, golfing, traveling, and barbecuing for his friends and family. In his later years, he loved telling stories and spending time with his grandchildren of whom he was extremely proud.
Tom touched many lives and he will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his wife; four children, Thomas Raymond (Noviarini) Campbell, Kathy Chapman, Kimberly Campbell, and Sarah (Robert Wood, Jr.) Campbell-Wood; grandchildren, Ethan Campbell, Koda Campbell, Pierce Chapman, Lucas Johns, Campbell Belcher, Harker Wood, Keaton Wood, Thatcher Wood; sisters, Bonnie Absher, Georgia (Joe) Murphy, Catherine (Darrell) Sauerbrunn; and many nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Paul Campbell and Forest Campbell; sisters, Ruby Williams McAnley, Dorothy Blaylock, and Betty Perez.
Memorial Service will be held on Friday, April 18, at 1 p.m. at Crain Funeral Home Anna with Joe Murphy officiating. Visitation will be held the day of service from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
Inurnment will be at Oakland Cemetery in Carbondale on a later date.
The cremation of Thomas Raymond Campbell will be personally handled by the staff of Crain Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be made to PAWS in Anna, Illinois.
