Thelma L. Vick
Thelma L. Vick, 98, of Tamms, died on Feb. 2, 2022, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born on March 3, 1923, in Delta, Ill., the daughter of Samuel Harrison and Pearl Melissa Allen Phillips.
She married Wayne Vick on Aug. 18, 1944. He preceded her in death on Oct. 27, 1991.
Mrs. Vick was a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church of Tamms, which she loved.
She worked for Case in Rockford during World War II as a riveter, welding wings on airplanes. She also worked as a bus driver for 22 years at Egyptian School.
She is survived by her two children, Brenda Vick and Michael (Dianna) Vick, both of Tamms; one grandson, Christopher (Amelia) Vick of Tamms; two great-granddaughters whom she loved dearly and cherished, Lucinda and Madelyn Vick; three step-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren; 11 step-great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Pauline Vick of Anna; two nieces, Kay Mowery of Anna and Debbie (Eddie) Atherton of Mayfield, Ky.; one nephew, Gary Honey of Tamms; her church family; and other family and friends.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Jewel Honey; and by five nephews, Doug, Glenn, Darrell, Delmar and Terry Honey.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 11, at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms, with the Rev. Bob Kirby officiating.
Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday, Feb. 11, from 9 a.m. until the time of funeral services.
Interment will take place following the service at McCrite Cemetery.
Memorials can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to McCrite Cemetery.
