Shirley J. Treece Spurlock

hirley J. Treece Spurlock, 85, of Anna, went to be with the Lord on June 7, 2022. 

She was born on Dec. 3, 1936, in Union County, the daughter of Raymond and Eva Winchester Treece. 

She married Kenneth Spurlock on June 19, 1960, in Cobden. He preceded her in death on May 24, 2010.

Mrs. Spurlock is survived by her children, Alisa G. (David) Houseman of Anna, Kevin D. (Donna) Spurlock of Springfield and Brenda C. Mayberry of Anna; grandchildren James (Megan A.) Houseman, Michael (Megan D.) Houseman and Steven (Sandra) Houseman, Sarah Mayberry, Jenna, Carly, and Jacob Spurlock; seven great-grandchildren, Alexis, Preston, Piper, Logan, Alyssa, Corbin and Gavin Houseman; very special sisters Lois Clutts and Joyce Miller; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband, Kenneth Spurlock.

Mrs. Spurlock was a charter member of United Missionary Baptist Church in Lick Creek, where she served faithfully in many capacities. 

She was also a member of the Anna Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 522, where she had served as Worthy Matron, secretary and other chairs. 

In addition, she enjoyed gardening, family genealogy and traveling. She worked as a secretary for the soil and water conservation office in Anna. 

Services began with last rites held by the Order of the Eastern Star at 11 a.m. Friday, June 10, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna. 

The funeral service began immediately following last rites, with Pastor Mike Miller officiating. Interment was in the Anna Cemetery. 

Memorials can be made to United Missionary Baptist Church or to the Alzheimer’s Association Illinois Chapter.
