Shirley C. Barringer

Shirley C. Barringer, 89, of Champaign, Ill. passed away on Monday, May 26, at Carle Hospital.

Shirley was born in Anna, Ill. on Jan. 7, 1936 to Frank and Lucille Womick. 

She married D. Dean Barringer on Sept. 9, 1955. 

Dean preceded her in death on Oct. 2, 2005. 

Shirley attended Anna-Jonesboro High School, and then went onto pursue her bachelor’s degree in åhome economics from SIU in Carbondale. 

Her Christian faith guided and directed her life in every way. She truly had a servant’s heart and loved spending time with her family and friends.

Shirley is survived by her daughters, Tina Elizabeth (Bryan) Cox of Normal, Ill., and Michelle (John) Olden of Savoy, Ill. She was also a proud grandmother to her grandson, Austin Blake Cox. 

She is survived by her sister, Judy Roth of Springfield, Ill.; her niece, Laura (Brad) Hessing; her nephews, Eric Roth of Springfield, Ill., Rick (Jan) Womick and family of Tennessee, and Mike (Ruth Ann) Womick and family of Ohio. Additionally, she leaves behind other nieces and nephews in Southern Illinois and New Mexico.

Visitation and services were held on Monday, June 2, at Morgan Memorial Homes, at 1304 Regency Drive W, Savoy, IL 61874
