Samuel Grayson Hood

Samuel Grayson Hood, 46, of Mounds, died at 7:35 p.m. Saturday, June 18, 2022, at his residence.

Mr. Hood was born on Jan. 20, 1976, in Paducah, the son of Danny and Kathy Hodges Hood.

He was a member of the former Assembly of God Church in Cairo, a member of the Cairo Fire Department and a dispatcher for the Cairo Police Department.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Matthew and Danny Hood Jr., on Dec. 22, 1976; maternal grandparents Arthur and Anna Mae Hodges; grandmother Viola Hodges; paternal grandparents Arlie and Helen Hood; and his mother-in-law, Sue Masters.

Survivors include his wife, Christina Masters Hood; his mother, Kathy Hood; his father and stepmother, Danny and Lee Ann Hood; a son, Clinton Hood; his father-in-law, Danny Masters; a half-brother, Jacob Hood; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 22, at Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge. The Rev. Buddy Walls officiated. Interment followed in Beechwood Cemetery in Mounds.
