Russell Davis

Russell Davis, 84, of Anna, died on Monday, Aug. 6, 2018.  

He was born on Dec. 20, 1933, in Union County, the son of Lawrence and Irene Coleman Davis. 

He married Virginia Davie on June 20, 1964, at Salem Lutheran Church in Jonesboro. She preceded him in death on March 23, 2018.

Mr. Davis is survived by his son, Patrick Davis of Anna; one granddaughter, Kember Lynn Davis; several nieces and nephews; other family and many friends.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Virginia Davis; and several brothers and sisters.

Mr. Davis served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.

He was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church. He worked several years at the Choate Mental Health and Developmental Center in Anna. 

Mr. Davis enjoyed gardening, flower arranging, long drives through the country and dearly loved his granddaughter, Kember. 

Funeral services for Russell Davis were at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 10, at Salem Lutheran Church in Jonesboro, with Pastor Mark Hasty officiating.  

Interment was in the Anna City Cemetery. Military rites were conducted by the VFW’s Carroll P. Foster Post No. 3455 of Anna and the Scott Air Force Base military funeral honors team.

Memorials can be made to Salem Lutheran Church or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
