Robert O. Burton

Robert O. Burton, 87, of Olive Branch, died Sunday, May 28, 2023, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born on Jan. 5, 1936, in Grand Tower, the son of William and Molly Ellen Knupp Burton.  

He married Frances Davis on July 24, 1971. She survives.

He was a Pentecostal minister. He was a hard worker and worked at the Tamms Silica Mill, Tamms Sawmill and Gearhart-Kolusch Farms for 36 years.  

He loved to pray and read his Bible in his prayer house. He was a loving husband and father.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Burton; daughter Bobbye “Jody” Marks; son John Burton; son Jerry Burton; daughter Christy Burton; special grandson who he raised, Austin Burton; son Roger Burton; daughter Sandra Neal; daughter Martha Smith; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters Ruth Ashworth, Edna Rambeau, Lela Davis and Cora Davis; and brothers Bill Burton, Ronald Burton and David Burton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five children, Lisa, Mary Ann, Jeff, Timmy and Robert; a sister, Viola Smith; and eight brothers, Charlie, Floyd, Fred, Jacob, Tony, Paul, Andrew and Clifford Burton.

Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 1, at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms, with the Rev. Lee Thompson officiating. Burial followed in Fayville Cemetery.
