Robert L. Waller
Robert L Waller of Plainfield, 76, joined his wife and son in Heaven, on Jan. 16, 2022.
He was born to Budd and Ann Waller in Anna, and was a lifelong resident of Plainfield.
In Robert’s true fashion, “Did I ever tell you about the time”(his stories always started this way), “it was August 12th, the window was open, and I caught a chill.” He told this story to whoever would listen and always acted surprised when no one else remembered the day they were born.
He had a great memory, and if you were lucky enough and had a couple of hours to spare, you would hear many more of his adventures.
One of his greatest qualities was to tell a story you would never hear the same way twice. No doubt this is what his family and friends will remember and miss the most about him.
To say Robert had a huge heart was an understatement. His family was everything to him, and if you weren’t worried about something, he would worry about it for you.
Over the years, he enjoyed attending many races, from Talladega to Michigan, and attending any of his grandchildren’s games and accomplishments.
He is survived by his daughter, Debbie (Chris) Stimac; his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy, Ashley (Mario) Waller, Kaylee, Taylor and CJ Stimac; his brother, Richard (Mary Jane) Waller; and his sister, Cheryl (John) Ligon; as well as his sister-in-law, Tina (late Roger) Waller.
He was also survived by his nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom he thought about and would check in on constantly.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Waller; and his son, John Waller, his parents, Budd and Ann Waller; and his brother, Roger Waller; as well as many friends and relatives, all of whom are missed dearly.
Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 28, from 10 a.m. until noon, at the Overman-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, which is located at the corner of Routes 30 and 59, in Plainfield.
Funeral services will be at noon at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dick Wisdom officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park in Joliet.
A celebration of life will also be planned in August in Anna.
As an expression of sympathy, memorials can be made to Robert’s family.
