Robert Dean ‘Bob’ Abercrombie
Robert Dean “Bob” Abercrombie, 87, of Tamms, died at 8:15 a.m. Thursday, July 29, 2021, at his residence.
He was born on Aug. 24, 1933, in Alexander County, the son of Chester and Ceyle Miles Abercrombie.
He was a member of the Alexander Freewill Baptist Church. Mr. Abercrombie retired from GMO Railroad after 41 years of service.
He was a member of Caledonia Masonic Lodge No. 47 AF & AM, where he served as a past master Mason. He was a member of Order of Eastern Star Chapter No. 587.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Joan Abercrombie in 1958; brothers, Merle and J.L. Abercrombie; and a great-grandson, Jude Schultz.
Survivors include his wife, Bernell Abercrombie of Tamms; sons Dennis (Sharon) Abercrombie of Jonesboro and Jerry (Letitia) Abercrombie of Tamms; a daughter, Phyllis (Jim) Schultz of Tamms; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 31, at Jones Funeral Home in Tamms. Pastor Bill Littrell officiated. Interment followed in the Anna City Cemetery in Anna.
