Raymond Victor Sheffer

Raymond Victor Sheffer, 60, of Sweetwater, Texas, and formerly of Metropolis, died at 10:14 a.m. Saturday, June 19, 2021, in a boating accident on the Ohio River near Joppa.

Mr. Sheffer was born on Oct. 5, 1960, in Kankakee. He attended the Edwardsville High School. He worked as a millwright out of Sweetwater, Texas.

Mr. Sheffer is survived by his mother, Cloetta June Sheffer of Metropolis; an uncle, Donald Canada (Delores) of Karnak; three nieces, Christy Deichmann, of Dorsey, Phyllis June Sheffer of Alton and Sarah Sheffer of Worden; two nephews, Wendell Dean Sheffer Jr. of Alton and James Strader of Staunton; and many cousins.

Mr. Sheffer was preceded in death by his father, Raymond James Sheffer; and  by a brother, Wendell Dean Sheffer Sr.

Memorial services honoring the life of Mr. Raymond Victor Sheffer were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 23, at Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak. The Rev. Mark Canada and the Rev. Steve Heisner officiated.
