Raymond Patrick Dover

Raymond Patrick Dover, 95, of Grand Chain, died at 8:44 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2023, at his home, surrounded by his family.

He was born on Feb. 4, 1928, in Grand Chain.

A lifelong union bricklayer, he along with his father and three brothers, owned and operated Dover’s Masonry. He also owned and operated Dover Brothers Farms. 

Mr. Dover served in the U.S. Army and helped in the reconstruction of Germany and France in the early 1950s. He was a devout Christian and has been called home. God speed.

The fourth of seven children, he is survived by his youngest sibling, Billy Dean Dover of Grand Chain. He was the proud uncle of many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Flora Ann Murphy Dover; three sisters, Ella Smoot, Elizabeth Taylor and Alice Inman; and two brothers, Dewey Dover Jr. and James Carl Dover.

Funeral services honoring the life of Mr. Raymond Patrick Dover were at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28, at Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak, with the Rev. Kenneth Capps officiating. 

Interment followed at the Cypress Cemetery, with full military honors accorded by the U.S. Army National Guard burial detail team and area veterans.
