Ray Hartline
Ray Hartline, 94, of Alto Pass, died Thursday, June 17, 2021, at his home.
He was born on Sept. 8, 1926, in Dongola, the son of Oscar and Mabel Goodman Hartline.
He married Susanna Armenth on Feb. 4, 1955, in Kentucky.
Mr. Hartline is survived by his wife, Susanna Hartline of Alto Pass; a son, Russ (Mary Jo) Hartline of Alto Pass; daughters Rhonda (John) McGuire of Valparaiso, Ind., Roxanne (Delbert) Smallwood of Wheeler, Ind., and Rosiland Sedlacek of Murphysboro; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters (infant) Mary Ann Hartline, Helen Dodd and Mildred Vowels; and a granddaughter, baby Smallwood.
He served in the U.S. Army. He spent time in the Philippines and in Iceland as a tank commander. He was a lifelong member of the VFW in Anna and the American Legion.
He accomplished so much in life, including raising cattle and farming, He owned a sawmill and spent many years as an over the road truck driver.
Funeral services were at noon Wednesday, June 23, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro. Allen Smallwood officiated.
Military rites were conducted by the Carroll P. Foster Post No. 3455 of the VFW in Anna and the Army National Guard funeral honors team. Interment immediately followed in St. John’s Cemetery near Dongola.
