Pleas J. Yon Sr.

Pleas J. Yon Sr., 72, of Jonesboro, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2019, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. 

He was born on Feb. 23, 1947, the son of Vernon Lewis and Rosie Lee Jackson Yon. 

He married Sharon Kay Montgomery. She preceded him in death on Jan. 12, 2011.

He is survived by his son, Pleas Jr. (Rhonda) Yon of McClure; three grandchildren, Toni Ledbetter, Orry Dale and Harley Yon (Terry Blake); five great-grandchildren, Stephen, Derrik and Nicholas Ledbetter, Landen and Jocelyn Blake; sisters Frances Faultn of Oceola, Ark., Mildred Smith of De Soto, Mo., and Patricia (Rickey) Hunter of Dover, Ark.; brothers Henry Yon of Cahokia, Donny (Nancy) Yon of Marissa and Roger (Marie) Yon of East Carondelet; nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sharon Kay Yon; three sisters and three brothers.

Mr. Yon worked for many years as a steel fabricator in construction. He was an avid outdoorsman, and loved hunting and fishing. 

Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden. The Rev. Danny Jones officiated. Interment was in Ebenezer Hall Cemetery.
