Peggy Sue Tolar Grant

Peggy Sue Tolar  Grant, 71, of Anna, died at 11:25 a.m. Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born on Oct. 30, 1951, in Anna, the daughter of Harry Tolar Jr. and Hazel Marie DeWeese Tolar.

She was a licensed practical nurse for over 35 years. She was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Pulaski. She was an avid reader and enjoyed going to Stinson Memorial Library in Anna. She liked Thomas Kinkade’s artwork, especially his lighthouses. She loved to travel.

She was preceded in death by her parents and by a brother, Kenneth Wayne “Kenny” Tolar.

Survivors include her son, Danny Mowery; daughters Janice Helton and Natalie (John) Gregory; a brother, Thomas “Tommy” Tolar; sisters Patricia Upshaw and Theresa (Clyde) Ruble; seven grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Graveside funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, June 26, at Green Lawn Memorial Gardens in Villa Ridge. Pastor Mike Crecelius will officiate. Interment will follow. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery prior to the service time.
