Peggy Lou Parker
Peggy Lou Parker, 87, of Villa Ridge, died at 5:25 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, 2025, at Hillview Senior Living and Rehab in Vienna.
She was born on Aug. 18, 1937, in Olmsted, the daughter of William and Bessie Johnson Schoen.
She married the love of her life, Marion Russell Parker, on August 13, 1955. They were married for 68 wonderful years. He preceded her in death last year.
She was a woman of strong Christian faith and loved witnessing and spreading God’s love to everyone she met.
During her life she was mainly a homemaker, but also worked as a teacher’s aide, bank teller and as a chiropractic assistant.
She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Providing daycare to them from the time they were born was the highlight of her life.
She also loved sewing and making things for her family and her home. She took art classes at Shawnee College when she was in her 60’s and loved to draw, paint and sketch.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and a sister, Cheryl.
She is survived by her daughter, Ginny (John) Severs of Pulaski; grandchildren Samantha (Kaleb) Green of Hartselle, Ala., and Ethan (Shania) Severs of Pulaski; sisters Carolyn Woods of Jackson, Mo., and Melesa McGill of Ullin; brothers Don (Arlene) Schoen of Mound City and Darrell (Kim) Schoen of Jackson, Mo.; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 10, at Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge.
Graveside services will follow at 11 a.m. at Mound City National Cemetery in Mound City. Inurnment will follow.
